Ossuccio is a town just in front of the famous Isola Comacina.
The town has a pre- romans origin and is now a holidays town of great cultural interest.
On the hillside of the mountains dominating the town is the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso; and higher you can find the Monastery of Saint Benedict with a beautiful Cloister.
Important is also the Curch of Sant'Eufemia which, with 5 other churches, is on the Isola Comacina.
The Isola Comacina is a piece of land 600 meters long and 200 meters large surrounded by the lake of Como.
Each year on the closest Sunday to the 24 June, the traditional feast of San Giovanni occurs on this island with a solemn parade of boats and the traditional fireworks on the lake.
A visit of great artistic and cultural interest is the one from Ossuccio to the Abbey of San Benedetto. It is a path which brings us back to the year 1000 . In two hours of walk you get into an area of complete silence: a jump back in time!
The abbey can be reached with 2 hours of relaxed walk in a path in the middle of a beautiful wood of beech and chestnut trees which opens up from time to time on nice plane clearings.
Ossuccio can be reached by the lake of Como boat or by car and it is a quiet place where you can spend your holiday going on a boat or spending quiet days under the sun or walking in the surroundings.
The view is really suggestive and it attracts famous people such as George
Clooney that from the United States moved to the lake of Como in a town nearby Ossuccio, or like the famous movie director George Lucas who has shot parts of Star Wars in a villa at few kilometers from the town.
