Rodi Garganico is a city with approximately 3700 inhabitants and it is part of the National Park of Gargano and of the Comunita' Montana del Gargano.
It is a known center for the production of citrus of Gargano and it is a very appreciated beach for the quality of the sea which was several times awarded with the prestigious blue flag.
The built up area is on a rocky promontory between two sandy shores.
It is surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation, mainly made of citrus orchards, olive groves, pine forests and fig trees.
In May when the trees are blossoming, it is possible to feel a strong scent of orange blossom on all the coast.
The old town, as well as its walls has a medieval origin and it is made of narrow alleys which are mostly steep and tangled that are separating houses with the same architecture and built in such a way that from every house it is possible to catch a glimpse of the sea.
Eastern beach is approximately 4 kilometers long while the Westerne beach developes at the West of the city and includes the Beach of the Santa Barbara Bay and the Beach Lido del Sole , where most of the touristic facilities are concentrated.
In addition to a spectacular blue sea, fine sand, sun and nature, Rodi Garganico offers a great number of summer events and entertainments such as the Patronal Festival, open air concerts, the Rodi Jazz Festival, the San Rocco Festival and the cultural show called Gargano Literature.
The gastronomy of the city is distinguished by many typical plates mainly made of fish and vegetables but also first plates or special cakes such as the sweet panzerottos.
The liquors are a real pride of this city, first of all is the Limoncello, a special liquor made of lemons, then the Arancino, made with oranges, then the Laurino and Mostocotto, receptively made with laurel and sour cherries.
Amongst the interesting monuments and places we need to mention the sanctuary of the Madonna Libera , the Church of the Crocifisso, the Churh of Saint Nicholas where there is the wooden statue of Saint Christopher and whose church tower is going up for three stores and is more then 20 meters high.
Approximately 2 kilometers from the city there is the first Monastery of Capucines which was built in 1538 and includes a Church, old graveyards and a very interesting cloyster.
